Ephesians 5

I'm not strong,
I'm kind of weak,
I'm not mysterious,
I like to speak,
I'm not bad,
I try to be good,
I'm not rich,
I live in the hood,
I'm not "cool", but I can socialize
There's more to me than you realize
Most guys wear a disguise to their demise because of their lies, so don't end up their wives
You may want a player, but I'll give you prayer
I can't give you all the things you're tellin' me, but I can give you fidelity
Whoever my wife may be, I just pray she accepts me
I'm not a model, I'm not famous
And I can't promise our marriage will be painless
But I'll do my best make you spotless and blameless
I pray you're not looking at this broken facade
Because inside is a man that loves God
To me love and sacrifice are synonyms
Just like there's no sin in him, us apart is like Cinnabon with no cinnamon
Like mars candy with no m&ms
Like a lady with no feminine
So inspect me, and give me a review
At the end of the day, I love Christ and I hope that's enough for you

Letter From a Motorcycle To a Traffic Light

My beloved traffic light,
How's it going? You doing alright?
I haven't left my house in about two days so I really miss you
I've been driving on little streets that are residential
Been trying to find a replacement for you but I saw no potential
I keep running into dead ends and stops
Went too fast on a bump and my tires popped
You know I have shown my love time and time again at the intersection of hope and love
Been watching you watching me from above
And I know there's a height difference
But I'll get bigger wheels for you if thats your preference
See, my engine revs for you
You wouldn't even imagine my chain of thoughts for you
You may not be ready to love me but I will wait
I will wait at that same old place
I will wait for you to give me permission to go
Im not gonna rush things cause I know your not a....
Yo, I'll chase after you like a greedy man chased after green
So don't play with my heart, we're on the same team
And while I wait, I will not cross that line
and if I do, I'll back up and wait for my time
I'll wait for you to notice me
Yes, in this circle I will be
I will treat your friends well and never run their reds
Because I've seen a car door meet a bikes head, light
You are my light
These other lights on the side they wanna roll on the ride but your the one who saves lives
You keep me from bad company that crosses my path
You know a lot more than I do but I think I win at math
See I have numbers in my head all day long
You've got my head twisted like the wrong lyrics to a song
And though I'm low on juice, I'll run that extra mile for you
Now, please understand that I'm writing this letter because I'm two tired of hiding this passion
If you want me to stay current I'll keep up with the new bike fashion
I wanna shift the gears of our relationship
And I'll go hard for you like a racing bike in a championship
I saw you turn yellow when I said hello
I didn't mean to make you nervous but you still turned red, I deserved it
I know you see all kinds of bikes and cars
But just know that that my love for you will go very far
Sincerely,
Your manly motorcycle

Sometime, Be Serious

Sometimes you need to be serious to send your message across
Sometimes you need to leave jokes aside to point them to the cross
It's cool to be cool with the people around
But let them know how you've been found
Jokes can sometimes kill the authenticity of a speaker
Cause then you'll speak and they'll joke "listen to preacher"
Yes be charismatic but you don't always have to leave people laughing choking like asthmatics
Be funny and cool in moderation
Not like skinny jeans sensation
Infatuation for a short duration
Let your words be few and make them count
Something to review and talk about
In respect to my last two lines, I'll keep this poem concise
Before you joke think twice
Is this joke too far? Am I representing christ well?
They know I'm a Christian but can they tell?

Spoken Word Piece titled "Lord Have Mercy"

I have seen you, not with my eyes but I have seen through, the Word of life that ignites my eyes and melts away the ice, so I can have a clear view
When I saw you, I knew that it was true, my nerves became glue, my eyelids too, my body was goop
I had seen your love and kindness but now my iris became mightless like a broken staff because I saw your wrath
God you scared me worse than monsters under the bed, more than the walking dead, or cancer in my head, you scared me
Not because I feared what you would do to me but because I saw my friends and family, those that rejected your son were burnt at a million degrees plus one, because they enjoyed their sin and hated you from within, and now they were cast out, just like they wanted
God I saw your holy war against evil, against a sinful people who grieve your cathedral, against pretentious pastors and perverse popes medieval
God I saw your holiness defiled by false Christians who are Christians only when it's convenient to be Christian, but they deny the sacrificed Christ when they're sliced, diced, and enticed by the nice ice of the world
God I saw you do what you had to do, a long overdue, not new, but accrued due to the enemies of you
And I thought
God, Have mercy on their souls! That's Darren, John, and Joel!
My God, have mercy!
Those are my friends Ken, Brian, and Percy! I don't want a controversy, and I don't have much words see? But could you spare them please? Could you put their minds at ease? My mind at ease. Is there anyway to save them?! Do you have to condemn?!
And with a most serious look He turned to me and said, "These men are dead. Each rejected my gospel their whole life and now their reward is strife. But I want you to answer me, did you worry about their eternity? I didn't see you speak to them of the cross, yet you knew they were lost. You didn't even pray sincerely, you said a tiny prayer knowing full well that they'd be punished severely. Now you want them to be saved? Where were your prayers that day?"
I wanted to awake from this bad dream, I was saved by grace and my loved ones got steamed.
I knew it was the truth, I avoided evangelism like a cavity on a tooth, didn't want to be offensive so I acted like youth, loved popularity too much to be uncouth
And now it's judgement day and all I can say is God is here to stay and all his enemies will be cast away, so before its too late, mark a date to bring the raw gospel like sushi on a plate
I vow to make his name famous, the spotless lamb blameless, punished for our iniquity that earned us death yet with every breath bore the burden of men
You don't love God, you hate him!
And your rebellion has enraged him, but it instead of handing you your the death check to your work in sin he payed him.
He made his son pay for your errors and faced his own wrathful terror.
And now God made me saved, set the record straight like a dj, and Eri Erick got grace
Not because I deserve it but because of His Will, my deadly disease is cured by the medicine that is God's pill, the gos-pil
Preach the message in the deep truth and also in love, grace and peace to you from the father above. Lord have mercy.

Kony, Sin, and Justice

I believe that everyone that has been on Facebook in the last 24 hours has heard of Joseph Kony and his slave soldiers made up of abducted Ugandan children. If you have not heard of it and/or have not seen the video about him, check it out here.
First, I would like to congratulate the brave work of Jason Russell in his work with Invisible Children. Secondly, I would like to make a statement that may seem harsh (especially to my liberal Christian friends) but, in my opinion, the Ugandan Army should not be looking to arrest Kony but they should be on a mission to wipe him off the face of the Earth trough execution. (This is the part where half of the readers gasp and grimace at my "cruel" words.) Honestly, the death penalty is not an "un-Christian" thing to do. The Old testament talked a lot about capital punishment and the New Testament never disagrees. Now you may be tempted to say that Jesus disagreed with capital punishment when he saved the woman that was caught in adultery but all Jesus was doing there was showing the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. (Where was the man that was caught with her?) Yes, there are many of Old Testament laws that were cultural but even God would command His own people to slaughter blasphemers and He Himself would consume people by the thousands. If you still disagree with me, then read this article and see if they are more convincing.
Lastly, would just like to touch on a little bit of theology, since that's always fun! When we look at Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein, and, recently, Joseph Kony, we see these horrible men and we cannot believe how evil they are. We despise their names and would never even imagine naming our kids Adolf, Saddam, or Kony (probably Joseph though). We see them as the worst of the worst and we could never even imagine being like them, but that is not the truth. Yes, they are extremely evil but so are we. We are as depraved as each one of those guys. Romans 3 quotes a passage in Psalms that says,

None is righteous, no, not one;
 no one understands;
 no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
“Their throat is pan open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
in their paths are ruin and misery,
and the way of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes

This passage describes all of humanity without God. Now, before you get out a quick list of good things you have done let me tell you that, "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away." (Isiah 64:6)
If you want to know what this state of our humanity is called, it is Total Depravity. Here is a video describing this biblical teaching.

I hope that people join together to stop Kony and I pray that the Holy Spirit will work to stop me and you from sinning.

God bless you,
Erick Lima

A Poem While You Wait

While you wait (if you even are waiting) for my video poem to come out, I decided to give you this poem to keep you thinking. Enjoy!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's day,
Love's flying away,
On wings,
Bringing me back an unexpected nothing,
Noting to lose and everything to gain,
Single as a dollar and not looking for change,
Repping only one as long as rappers stay the same,
Or until love empties a mag of hollow point .45 caliber bullets up in my brain,
Talk about shell shocked,
My mind's rocked by 9's and glocks of locks of hair,
Pretty girls that roll eyes and don't even care,
Don't even give a man a chance,
Saying "I don't want a boyfriend, but I really want to dance"
So what? You don't want relationship but wouldn't mind unzipping your pants?
C'mon girl!
There's more to life than this world,
More to love than the fourteenth of february,
and if commercialism is your idea of love then that's scary,
Maybe I'm single cause I'm just not ready,
Not yet a man, not yet steady,
Not yet capable, so broken up that I'm not duct-tapeable,
Maybe the fourteenth is a reminder to keep getting better,
To quit changing feelings like the weather,
To stop sinning like it's whatever,
To bust a Bieber and never say never,
Never say "I can't" or "I will not"
But rather keep mixing as long as the mixture's hot,
Now I'm sorry to you husbands, wives, girlfriends, and and boyfriends,
But I'm not getting together with anyone till I cut off some loose ends,
Till I get around the bend and I see past the trends that tend to mend lost souls together,
I want to be a man for my wife so we'll be united forever,
Valentine's Day may be fun for you but not yet for me,
So you fix you and I'll let God fix me

New poem

I finished writing a poem a week ago but I wanted to record it so it would be more realistic and deeper to you guys. I want to record it soon, before I start working next week, so let's see how that goes.

God bless you,
Erick Lima
